Completely out of the blue and with great delight, we are incredibly proud, honoured and excited to announce that we have both been given a Point of Light award from the U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May. The award was a complete and utter surprise. We are incredibly grateful for the support of so many amazing people, we look forward to doing some incredible new things in 2018. xx https://www.pointsoflight.gov.uk/team-unlimbited/
Team UnLimbited Blog
This blog documents the collaborative work by Drew Murray and Stephen Davies as volunteers in Britain, we collaborate on our voluntary efforts under the name of Team UnLimbited. Our R&D efforts include developing new devices, research into materials and functional improvements. All our work is shared as open source for the benefit of all, for non-commercial use.
As you may know, I house all the equipment, tools and materials needed for building 3d printed arms from my rather cosy standard 8x6 garden shed. I cannot stand up or even sit comfortably anymore to work as every nook is crammed full with all the necessary tools and equipment that allow me to construct the UnLimbited arm. To say it’s snug is an understatement.
Because of what I do in my shed I recently won the Workshop category for Channel 4’s Shed of the Year. This is where Steve Hayden of Apex Timber building's saw what we do, and almost immediately after the program aired called me and said he just felt that he had to help. Apex Timber Building’s hand make custom timber buildings to the exact size, shape or style, out of quality timber with longevity in mind.
So, this weekend Steve and his team (who gave up their weekends for free) travelled six hours and arrived at my home to build me a custom workshop completely free. They arrived wearing Santa hats and in merry spirits. We had a great day filled with great conversation and laughter.
I have been brought to tears by the overwhelming outpouring of support and generosity of this amazing company, and now that the workshop has been built, I have been impressed at the quality, speed and professionalism with which they executed the build.
I am at a total loss for words at how incredibly grateful and humble I feel at such generosity. I think if I said it a million times it would never be enough. Thank you.
Please support and show them your love, for a company that selflessly just wanted to help. Needless to say we will stay in contact and will hopefully remain friends for years to come.

Stephen's current HQ is a humble garden shed.
While it might have received global recognition on Shed of the Year, the reality is it is now to small for this operation to be based within.
Luckily Apex Timber Buildings have offered an upgrade for Stephen; a far posher and bigger shed that should meet the needs for any small arms dealer ;-)
Work for Version 2 of "The Shed" has now begun and with help from a local builder the foundations have now been laid.
We can't wait to get the new shed in place and see what is the next open source creation to come from within its timber frame walls !
We are now working out all the items we will need to kit out "The Shed V2" and we have started a wish list of items we need; feel free to make a donation from the list.
Massive thank you to Apex Timber Buildings; and to everyone for their continued support.
Today we received a brilliant offer of help from Daemon3D print !
Daemon3D Print based in Cambridge England have very generously offered us an Ex-demo BQ hephestos 2 3D printer to help us in our work.
The timing of which is excellent as we are testing out new ideas for what will ultimately form the next iteration of our open source arm. Having the extra printing capacity allows us to print test components while not impacting on building devices for recipients - so this really is a Win, Win !
Thanks Daemon3D from Team UnLimbited !!!
