The Gift of Giving

How time flies! We’re now well into December and will soon be saying farewell to 2022 — a year that, for us here at Team UnLimbited at least, has been eventful.

Along with December come the beloved holidays of Christmas and New Year’s Eve, and this year we want to share an unusual (but sensible!) Christmas-related suggestion out there to our community.

But first, we want to express our gratitude for the support and recognition we’ve received throughout 2022. From lighting up lives with brand-new UnLimbited Arms to having a dedicated chapter in Ben Shephard’s Humble Heroes book, this year has been exciting and further proof that we’re making a real difference. This is only possible because of those who champion what we do, so thank you.

Now, to our suggestion! When you think of Christmas, what comes to mind? It’s safe to assume Santa Claus, family get-togethers, and unwrapping presents are among your selections. Quite possibly mince pies too! Christmas cards, however? Likely not so much in 2022.

While they’re nice to receive, Christmas cards adorn coffee tables, windowsills, and shelves for a short period of time and are promptly discarded when decorations are taken down for the year. Sometimes they contain heartfelt, unique messages to be stored away for future reading, but most of the time, cards have a quickly scribbled “Merry Christmas” and little else.

What if, instead of spending money on cards that are often all-too-often thrown out, we all donated a small amount of money to charities and causes that are near and dear to us?

Thank you for 2022!

We appreciated all your support, however you chose to show it.

The real magic of Christmas is spending time with loved ones and seeing them happy, but the festive cheer doesn’t have to only spread among those in our immediate circle! You may well know that it only cost us £30 to make an arm for Isabella all those years ago, for example, so imagine the impact that could be had with an increase in charitable donations at this time of year — both at Team UnLimbited and elsewhere in the limb difference community and beyond.

It always feels great to help those in need, especially when contributing towards causes that are truly dear to you, so perhaps consider our suggestion this year! It’ll undoubtedly be appreciated but at the same time, with times so tough, don’t worry if your focus has to remain in your own household.

If you would like to support us, there may be another way you can help. If you happen to do some last-minute Christmas present shopping on Amazon then please consider choosing Team UnLimbited as your Amazon Smile charity of choice – we receive a small donation from each purchase at no cost to yourself and it goes a long way!

Thank you for all your ongoing support and have a lovely winter wherever in the world you are.
